Primitive

Paul Rodriguez founded Primitive Skateboarding in 2008 as a skateboard and clothing store in Encino, CA. He set up shop alongside Heath Brinkley, Andy Netkin, Jay Partow, and Jubal Jones.

Rodriguez had been sponsored by Plan B but quit to have more control over his career.

After his departure he printed and sold a limited run of 500 gold-foil Primitive decks. As a result of their huge success he decided to fully launch his own skate company and Primitive Skateboarding was born.

The original team line up featured Rodriguez as a pro and Carlos Ribeiro and Nick Tucker as amateurs. The team now also includes Bastien Salabanzi, Devine Calloway, Diego Najera, Trent McClung and Brian Peacock. Check them out over on their Instagram.

Primitive have had a number of collaborations over the years, the most recent being with Rick and Morty and Dragon Ball Z.
